"Queer mental health" is a neutral term that has been portrayed in a negative light. Queer and cis-het folks alike are inundated with the idea that the mental health of the queer community is drenched in shame, trauma, depression, and more. Of course, there are pervasive levels of all these things amongst queer folks due to the cis-heteropatriarchal system we all live in and they must be dealt with. However, these are not all that we are and do not define us as individuals or a group of people. I view my queerness as a strength and an asset. How do you relate to your queerness?
In this original 5-minute guided meditation, I share several affirmations that will ignite your inner resilience as a queer person. You'll practice viewing your queerness from a positive perspective that's integral to who you are as a whole, beautiful human being. All you need are open ears, an open heart, and a comfortable place to sit. Have fun and namaste!
