Individual sessions that include yoga, talk therapy, and meditations are 60-minutes and my out-of-pocket fee is $225. Individual sessions that are only talk therapy without yoga or meditation are the same length and price. If you desire more time for yoga and/or talk therapy and my schedule allows for it, I offer therapy & yoga sessions for 75-minutes at $250 and 90-minutes at $275. I also offer 45-minute talk therapy sessions for $180.


I do not accept insurance. I may be able to work with you as an out-of-network provider. Ask your health insurer about your behavioral/mental health benefit and whether you are entitled under your plan to see a provider out-of-network. Please determine your eligibility for out-of-network benefits and communicate with me your desire to use them before our first therapy session together. If we proceed based on this arrangement, you will be responsible for payment within 24 hours of service and I will provide you with an invoice/superbill upon request that you can submit to your insurer for some reimbursement. The percentage of reimbursement, if any, will differ from plan to plan, so you must work this out directly with your insurance company. I am not responsible for contacting your insurer or for providing the reimbursement. I cannot guarantee your insurer will provide the reimbursement/benefits they promise.

As of January 1, 2022, the “No Surprises Act” has been implemented into law and you have the right to request a Good Faith Estimate, which provides an estimate of cost of services for 12 months. Read the informational document here.


I ask for full payment to be made on the occurrence of each session. Payments are made by credit card through Simple Practice. Credit cards are set on autopay and charged automatically the night following each session. If there is an issue with the payment processing, Simple Practice will continue to attempt the autopayment each night. If it does not process after three attempts, I will contact you and we will come up with a plan (i.e., updating credit card information) to bring the balance up to date. If the balance has not been paid by the next session, I will have to delay the session until the balance is paid. I do not have access to the credit card and only see the last four digits through your client portal. Simple Practice is safe, secure, and HIPAA compliant.

I offer a small “sliding-scale” to a certain amount of clients who express financial need. As of May 2022, all sliding-scale spots are full. While I understand not everyone can afford my fee, I have put a lot of thought into fee setting for my private practice, and choosing a reasonable and fair level of compensation for myself given my training, the value I provide, business expenses, and the cost of living. I cannot guarantee that I can meet the fee you wish to pay and am happy to help you find a referral. Mental health services are currently in high demand and I can make no guarantees about other providers, their approaches, their fees, and whether they have openings.



I have a 24-hour cancellation policy for sessions, and while I always appreciate as much notice as possible, full session charges will apply for cancellations with less than 24-hour notice. If you are unable to keep an appointment without adequate notice, please expect to pay for the missed appointment, as I have reserved the session time for you and am not always able to fill it with another client on short notice.

I would like to remain flexible enough to deal with unforeseen scheduling conflicts due to sickness or personal emergency situations, and if this is the case, I will do my best to reschedule for that same day. Unfortunately, it is not always possible to offer you another time; by missing your appointment time without adequate notice, you risk being charged for the hour.


As with cancellations, please let me know as soon as possible if you will be late to a session. If I have not received notice, I will assume the session is to take place at the scheduled time and will join the video call. If you have not joined the call within 5 minutes, I will contact you to determine if you will be able to attend. If I do not hear or get a response from you within 15 minutes of the start of the session, I will sign off the video call and cancel the session.

If you are able to contact me and do so any time after the 15-minute threshold (even if still during our session time), I will need to reschedule the session and you will be charged the full fee. If you inform me before the 15-minute threshold that you will be late, we will still end the session at the scheduled time and I will not be able to extend the end time to compensate for the missed time.


What you say to me, as well as the fact that we have a therapeutic relationship, is confidential. I will not reveal any information about you unless I have your written permission to do so. Legally, I am mandated by law, to report to the appropriate authorities if I believe that you are a danger to yourself or others, or if I have a reasonable suspicion to believe that child abuse is occurring.

Email & Other Communications

Email is the primary form of communication I use for my practice and you may email me any time at hello@marissatolero.com. I will respond to your email within 24-48 hours depending on my availability. Please be aware that email is not a secure form of communication and it may be a better choice to speak to me directly in the privacy of our session or through the Secure Messaging system on Simple Practice. My preference is to limit our contact in written form to scheduling issues only. At this time, I do not have a business phone line and prefer all communication to go through email, Secure Messaging as listed above, or during telehealth videoconferencing sessions.

Communities Served

At this time, I focus on offering my services to women and the LGBTQIA+ community. I am passionate about and identify with these communities and specialize in their needs. I am ethically bound to only serve those who fall within the range of my competency and based on my experience, training, and knowledge, women and queer folks are where my competency lies. If you do not identify with either or both of these communities, I am happy to provide a referral to a therapist who is more compatible for you.

Therapists are licensed state-by-state and I only offer psychotherapy to folks located within New York state because this is where I am licensed. Due to COVID-19, it is very possible that you are moving or have moved out of one of these states in the last year. However, telehealth laws require that the person I am having a session with be located within the state I am licensed at the time of the session. If you will be moving in and out of NY or are permanently located elsewhere, we can hold sessions until you relocate or find you an appropriate referral.


I offer all prospective clients a 30-minute video consultation through Zoom. These are an opportunity for me to hear about what interests you in yoga+therapy as well as for you to learn about me and my work. We will also determine whether we are a good fit either during or after this meeting.

Upon our first contact, I will request you read through this page so you're fully informed about my policies and can make a decision about whether to move forward with the consultation. Please be mindful that the consultation is not a therapy session. I will be respectful of your time (in keeping the consult to 30 minutes as well as whether to hold it at all if you do not agree with the policies) and I kindly ask you to do the same for me. If you choose to move forward in working with me, the $20 fee associated with the consultation will be contributed to and therefore, deducted, from our first session together.

The consultation will occur over Zoom, but all sessions afterward will take place through Simple Practice, as mentioned above. My practice is 100% virtual, which means all services are provided through telehealth. This was the case before the COVID-19 pandemic and will remain so in the future.
